Backstory:

Moiraine was born in Ureza of the Ev'rir province to a rather poor family in the year 7 A.C.. She completed primary school with relative ease though she was in no way an outstanding student. At the age of twelve Moiraine began her secondary education that the local Beaming Phoenix school as she couldn't afford to travel to any other school. Shortly after her enrollment Moiraine discovered she excelled at light magic, choosing to devote the majority of her studies to the manipulation of Light with some minor studies in fire magic.

A fourteen year old Moiraine sat alone in the cold dark cellar of her families rickety old house surrounded by piles of books and papers haphazardly strewn about. A small orb of light floated above her as she rubbed her temples in frustration and scribbled in a notebook, a scorch mark smoldered on the ground behind her from yet another of the dozens of failed attempts at creating her own spell. The young Moiraine threw down her pen with a sigh, delving back into her books.

A fifteen year old Moiraine ran home, bursting through the front door exclaiming excitedly to her parents that she had just finished her secondary studies, completing them in just three years. This made her eligible to obtain the Rank Leigren if only she could get the spell she'd been working on for the past year to work properly and use it in a tournament. Moiraine's parents were ecstatic about the news, they're daughter had an opportunity to achieve a magical ranking! Such a thing never before happened in their family. Moiraine's overjoyed parents pulled money from their savings, giving it to Moiraine to cover the entry fee for the next magical tournament.

A year after completing her secondary magical education Moiraine traveled to the grand city of Ryseitan and entered into the National Magical Tournament. She was absolutely giddy with excitement, over the past year she had finally perfected her spell and she couldn't wait to showcase it in this tournament, but she wouldn't use it unless she faced a Leigren. Moiraine took a deep breath, calming her nerves, round one was about to begin. Her first opponent was a girl, around Moiraine's age, she recognized her as a student who had graduated from Beaming Phoenix a year before Moiraine herself. Her opponent wasn't a Leigren and Moiraine knew her to be primarily a fire users, thus she decided it would be best to go on a full assault to end the round quickly before things got heated. As soon as the round started Moiraine cast a dazzling explosion of light, at the same time turning away while covering her eyes so she wouldn't be blinded by her own spell and shot a dozen small flaming orbs towards her opponent. Her opponent, blinded by the flash immediately threw up her hands, creating a wall of flame that stopped the orbs of light from reaching her. Moiraine took a step back from the intense heat of the blazing wall, cursing under her breath, this fight was already lasting longer than she wanted. As the wall died down Moiraine prepared to launch another series of attacks but was caught off guard as three large fireballs came shooting towards her. Moiraine threw herself backwards to avoid the balls of flame, at the same time casting a beam of light angled above and slightly behind her opponent. Flipping over Moiraine saw her opponent stumble as she was struck by the beam, the first hit of the match. Pushing her advantage Moiraine formed dozens of extremely bright orbs of flame all around her opponent that would leave her seeing spots after just seconds of looking at them. The orbs began spinning around in a chaotic way with no real patter, completely disorienting Moiraine's opponents
who was just now getting her barrings again after being hit by the attack. Every few seconds one orb would streak forwards at blinding speed towards her opponent who, even though she was near blinded easily countered with small bursts of flame, but it was clear she was now on the defensive. The dozens of orbs that still remained suddenly flared brilliantly casting a blinding luminescence around the entire area. Before the light faded the orbs flashed forwards, Moiraine's opponent, completely blinded, anticipated what was coming and attempted to throw up a barrier of fire all around her, however she wasn't quite fast enough and at least five of the orbs made it through, striking her. The round was over, Moiraine had won.

Moiraine's next opponent was an eighteen year old male, and he was a Leigren. This was the opportunity Moiraine had been waiting for, hoping for for years now. Her pulse quickened she was finally going to be able to make a name for herself. The Leigren as it turned out was a former student of Storming Hydra, this didn't bode well for Moiraine's chances of victory but she didn't let this get to her, she couldn't, not when she was this close to proving herself worthy of a magical ranking.

As the round started Moiraine shot multiple projectiles at her opponent, the overly arrogant Leigren allowed one of the shots to strike him and effortlessly knocked the others out of the air with blades of wind. Moiraine shot a beam of light at the Leigren, attempting to blind him but he countered it by creating a kaleidoscope of ice, intensifying the light and reflecting it back at Moiraine. Stunned by her own spell Moiraine stumbled backward and tripped, the Leigren smirked, knowing he had an easy win and launched a multitude of icicles at the downed Moiraine, two of them hit her before she had a chance to react, creating a beam of such intense heat the ice sublimated. The Leigren manipulated the steam created when the beam struck the ice and sent it towards Moiraine. She panicked, this shouldn't be happening she still hadn't had a chance to cast her spell! If she failed now who knows how long it would take her to have a chance like this again? It cost her family so much just to give her this one opportunity. Moiraine rolled over and kicked herself to her feet, throwing an intense explosion of heat, dispersing the blast of steam. It was now or never, it was time to cast her spell:

Radiant Assault.

A multi-colored ball appeared between Moiraine and the Leigren which erupted into  thousands of beams of flaming light of ever shade imaginable. The beams zig-zagged across the sky and all around the arena in an erratic style, all the while dripping liquid color which burst into walls of flame wherever it touched the ground. The beams that went into the air began hammering down in a brutal aerial assault, some of the beams had melted their way into the ground and where now bursting up from below the Leigren. He attempted to block the barrage with anything he could, but the intensity of the beams was so great the ice and water he use vaporized instantaneously. Thinking fast the Leigren launched himself up into the air with a jet of water and formed a cocoon of wind and water around him forming a near impenetrable barrier between himself and the beams. The beams lanced towards the cocoon, hitting it from every possible angle, a pure white light blinded everyone in attendance for a full thirty seconds. When everyone's vision finally began to return what they saw was an exhausted Moiraine on her knees but still very much conscious and the Leigren, laying knocked out on the ground a few meters away. It was clear he was defeated Moiraine was the victor. As she slowly pushed herself to her feet she sighed with relief, if she wasn't so drained from that spell she would have cheered, she had done it! The spell was a success and she had actually won! If she were being completely honest she hadn't expected to actually beat a Leigren, but now she had to move on to the next round, she berated herself for overextending herself, it would take at least a full day to recover fully, there was no way she'd be able to pull out on top next round.

Moiraine's opponent was yet another Leigren, this time an earth mage. He had seen what Moiraine was capable of and was very impressed, maybe even a little jealous of her skill and even though it was obvious Moiraine was unsteady on her feet he wasn't about to risk it being a ruse. A pillar of rock catapulted Moiraine into the air and a rock came flying and hit her square in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her. Hitting the ground with a grunt Moiraine slowly rolled over and struggled to her feet, swaying slightly, in a rather pathetic attempt at a retaliation she created dozens of tiny flashes of light all around her opponent, after each flash a small beam would shot towards him. The miniature beams began to clump together as they neared the leigren, forming a larger, more powerful blast, though it was still pitiful compared to what Moiraine had been casting earlier. The leigren felt a stab of pity and decided to be a nice person, allowing the beam to hit while partially forming a barrier of stone as if he were trying to guard against the blast but was unable to in time. Moiraine gave a silent cheer when she saw her attack hit, she might actually be able to pull this off! However her mini celebration was cut short as a rock came flying in from the side, hitting her in the head and rendering her unconscious.

Moiraine awake in time to watch the final round, the free for all round. She sighed with regret, a single tear formed in her eye. She would have loved to have actually won the tournament but alas it was not meant to be. Instead she took solace in the fact she had even had the opportunity to participate and that her spell had proven to be a success. As the battle ended and the champion was declared Moiraine gathered her things and began walking out when she was approached by a figure in a black robe covered in red symbols, his face hidden by a white masked with blue markings. This was one of the fabled Arch Recolachs. Moiraine halted in her tracks, trying to ask what the Arch Recolach wanted with her but she was so nervous only an incoherent mumble escaped her lips. The Arch Recolach chuckled, "Don't be so nervous child, I was watching the tournament and I must say I was very impressed by that spell you executed so well. And by one so young no less, what did you call it?" Finding her voice Moiraine babbled out an answer "IcallitRadiantAssaultsirthankyousomuchyouhavenoideahowmuchyourpraisemeans!" Moiraine blushed slightly when she realized she was acting like like a country lass seeing her idol in person for the first time, then blushed even harder when she realized she was blushing. Granted a country lass seeing her idol in person was pretty much exactly what she was at the time but she didn't have to act like it!

The Arch Recolach only chuckled again, patting Moiraine on the head and ruffling her hair, "Radiant Assault, I like it. Now, I understand you completed you secondary education in just three years, that's no easy feat you know. Anyway, I came to congratulate you, from this point forward you will officially be recognized as a Leigren but remember this does not mark the end of your studies, not by a long shot. Continue practicing, do not be afraid to experiment, push the boundaries of what is thought to be possible and expand your horizons and perhaps you will raise to the Rank of Maggeir, or even, in time, an Arch Recolach yourself. One day it may be you standing here, congratulating a new Leigren." The Arch Recolach then walked away, leaving Moiraine standing there speechless and swelling with pride, she had done it. She was a Leigren.

After she had achieved the rank of Leigren Moiraine returned home briefly to celebrate with family and friends before head off on her own to further her magical abilities. She travel to the greatest libraries in the country, collecting massive amounts of books on light magic and perception of it. Moiraine sent notification to the Council of Sages that she would be attempting to use Light magic to alter peoples perception of the world around them. After receiving the okay she set to work, experimenting on bending light around objects and altering how it entered someone's eye. All the while she was experimenting with light magic she maintained that having a healthy body was just as important as a healthy mind, thus she endeavored to stay in shape through her years of study.

Six years after starting her research and experimentation on illusionary magic Moiraine sat back in her chair a satisfied smile on her face, there was an empty space on the desk in front of her. She waved her hand and a statuette of the king appeared in the space. Waving her hand again it changed into a block of gold and with yet another wave it was a tattered old notebook. Picking up the notebook Moiraine flipped through it, looking back over her countless trials and errors trying to perfect this spell. The next morning Moiraine set out to display her discoveries before the Council of Sages and, hopefully obtain the rank of Maggeir. Standing before the Council Moiraine showed off the applications of the illusionary magic she had derived from light magic. The Council, seeing the rather interesting and practical things this magic could be used for agreed to grant Moiraine the title of Maggeir. Returning to her home Moiraine sat at her desk, pouring over all her notes, wondering just what she would do now. She had dedicated her entire life to the study of light magic and she had already mastered the known applications of it and had even created her own. A shadow was cast over Moiraine's desk and she looked up to see a cloaked figure standing before her, a heavy cowl pulled over its face masking its features in a deep shadow. The figure reached into its cloak and pulled out a massive Tome with a strange symbol on the cover, dropping it with a loud thud on her desk. Moiraine's eyes involuntarily glanced down at the tome and when she looked back up the figure had vanished. Curiosity getting the best of her Moiraine opened the tome to the first page and was utterly stunned by what she saw. The title of the book was The Creation of Chaos Magic Chaos Magic was something that didn't exist at all and that in itself was surprising enough, but what really got to Moiraine was the author: Moiraine Rahvik. It soon dawned on her that the figured had been her, from the future!
She had somehow created a brand new form of magic and sent back all her research into the past via chronomancy! This was the kind of thing that made Recolachs. Moiraine immediately packed up her bags and moved to a small secluded village where she could work in relative peace with minimal collateral damage. Even with a book written by her future self putting these things into reality would still be insanely difficult and could take decades to master.

Moiraine sat in her newest home, a small cabin on the outskirts of a small village in Ev'rir and opened the Chaos Tome. She read that chaos came from the perception of every sentient thing in the universe, what she had to do was harness that, make it grow. Feed it. To start she would need to delve within herself to find the spark of chaos buried within herself and extract it, manipulate it. She spent the next few years in near constant meditation trying to extract the chaos within herself, halting mediation only when she needed to sustain her body, and take care of basic human functions, she also took time during these breaks to maintain her physique. Once she finally managed to harness and manipulate the chaotic nature of her own mana she spent years more experimenting with it, fairly large explosions happened with increasing frequency around her cabin, much to the annoyance of the other inhabitants of the village, though they kept their complaints to a minimum. Moiraine had dedicated eight years into the study of Chaos Magic by this point, the possibilities of what this magic could do was nearly limitless in it's applications. It was fueled by what sentient beings perceived as "chaotic" and thus Moiraine could use it to do anything at all that a being thought as "chaotic." The magic could be used to fuel itself by creating more chaos, this was tested by causing members of the village to have terrible nightmares, she pushed this further, causing a father to murder his child altering his perception of things with illusions. As these these anomalies happened Notes in the tome suggested that causing chaos in a more "personal" sense would cause the chaotic spark in a persons mana, and thus the chaotic nature of the wild mana around them to skyrocket. To test just how effective this was Moiraine pulled a villager away, bring her to a small chamber under her cabin using illusionary and chaotic magic to manipulate the poor souls mind. The village woman lay on a table,
barely conscious as Moiraine stood nearby, one hand marking her place in the open tome while she looked at the woman. Standing there looking at her Moiraine thought back to the innocent girl she had once been, inspiring only to achieve the rank of Leigren as a mage of light. Was she really about to personally torment this poor woman to further her research in a terrible dark art? Moiraine shook her head and steeled herself. This research needed to be done, if she could master this magic she might even be able to reverse it, bring creation from this destructive nature. Besides, she reasoned, if she created this magic and mastered it she would also be able to develop countermeasures to it. Chaos Magic could be used for the ultimate offensive magic, as well as a formidable defensive magic. The war with the returned Warlock had been raging for twenty-seven years now and there was no sign of it ending soon. Moiraine had hope he could be defeated again, just has he had been in the past but she did not know when it would happen, and if he could come back once before who was saying he wouldn't be able to return a second time. Dranire needed to be prepared, Moiraine needed to master Chaos Magic. With a sigh she stepped towards the villager, her fingers trailing along the pages of the tome for a moment and she set to work...

For two years Moiraine tormented villagers on a personal level, once this would have sickened her but she truly believed her work was for the greater good. After two years of torturing villagers and releasing them back to their homes everyone walked around with haunted looks, sleep was a rare thing for many of them, believing their experiences to be horrible nightmares and Moiraine to be a Maggeir who was working tirelessly to develop a cure for their plight. Because the villagers saw Moiraine as a benefactor none of them saw a need to leave the village to report the happenings and seek aid and since the village was so out of the way there was almost never any outsiders. When there was Moiraine, the creator of illusionary magic, could easily alter what they saw so no suspicion would be aroused. Moiraine had just released her latest captive, she felt her research in the destructive nature of chaos magic had reached it's pinnacle and thus it was time to set out trying to reverse the chaos magic. Creation rather than Destruction. Perhaps even restore the shattered minds of the villagers.

After a year of no longer tormenting the village life began to return to normal and when asked why she still stuck around Moiraine responded that she wanted to remain around for a few more years at least to monitor the village to make sure the strange affliction did not befall them yet again. It was around this time that news from the outside world reached the village, the Warlock had been defeated, Dranire was safe from his wrath. Rumors said he was defeated by a child, other said the Council of Sages had developed a new super weapon that had been used to raze the warlock from the face of the earth. Dozens of variations sprouted up, each more outlandish than the last. Moiraine didn't know which to believe though she didn't really care. The warlock was gone, one of the immediate driving forces behind her research vanished. She wasn't too disappointed though, in fact she was relieved, now there was no need to try to rush, she could take her time developing the last bits of Chaos magic. Retreating back to her experiments for another four years she finally had truly mastered every aspect of chaos magic. Both destruction and creation. Moiraine was proud of the fruits of her work but now it was time to put this forth before the Council of Sages to see if they accepted it as the work of a Recolach.

Moiraine stood before the Arch Recolach, awaiting permission to put her case forward, running things through her mind one last time. When the Head of the Council gave a nod Moiraine took a slight step forward and addressed them. "Arch Recolachs, I Moiraine Rahvik, have succeeded in creating Chaos Magic, a completely new form of magic, unlike anything at all that currently exists, it's applications are as limitless as the uses of raw mana itself. I ask you see the uses of this magic as beneficial and for the greater good of all Dranire and allow me to join the Rank of Recolach." The Arch Recolach discussed among themselves for a few moments and turned back to address Moiraine, "The very word Chaos implies nothing but destruction and the warping of the very fabric of sanity. How could this be used in any way for the greater good?" Moiraine was the picture of serenity as she answered, " Chaos magic will provide a driving force for the advancement of other magic, I myself am already well on my way to finding ways to defend against this magic and even 'reverse' it. Bringing creation from the pure destructive force. Further more the unparalleled destructive power of this magic could prove essential in the defense of Dranire from outside forces, such as if the Warlock would return yet again. I know that war is still fresh in the memories of everyone." The members of the Council nodded, they could see the reasoning behind this and were most intrigued by the possibilities of reversing it. "You put forward a convincing case Moiraine, especially this reversal of chaos, it may be you're well on your way to creating yet another form of magic. One thing does bother us though. You were an illusionary Maggeir before, impressive yes, but you were in no way overly outstanding in your accomplishments. How is it you jumped from illusion to chaos in such a short amount of time?" Moiraine smirked, "You of all the people in the world should know the answer to that." The Head of the Council
leaned back, his mask hiding a knowing smile that crept onto his face, "Ah yes. Well then. Moiraine Rahvik, you have succeeded in creating an entirely new form of magic and convinced us of its merits, from this day forth you will be known as a Recolach. We congratulate you and hope you continue with your magical advancements." Moiraine bowed and thanked them, leaving their presence.

As Moiraine walked outside she couldn't help but throw back her head and laugh. She had done it! She would now be known throughout Dranire as the Chaos Recolach, had a nice ring to it. Something egged at the back of her mind though, she soon realized what it was. She had created a new magic, on that would very likely be seen as a controversial magic, a Dark Art. Chaos magic would likely be scorned, shunned by the populous unless they could be educated on it, but why stop there? Why shouldn't there be an institute where aspiring mages could study and experiment with all kinds of black magic? A whole new disciple of magic could be born from this! With her newest goal in mind Moiraine walked along thinking about where this school should be. She was a Recolach now, she could found a school just about anywhere and it already have a boost in prestige by virtue of her rank. It suddenly occurred to her that despite being one of the largest cities in the country Ilru did not have a school of magic, thus Moiraine set off to the Trade Capital of Dranire to found a School of the Dark Arts in it's magic district.

A year later the doors of black temple known as The Scholomance were opened. Of course there were no students, not yet and Moiraine would need instructors. But first she would need to gather promising young mages who would be able to take her teachings and develop new forms of dark arts. As it so happened there was a magic tournament scheduled to happen in Ilru in a few days, just like the one Moiraine had entered herself decades ago. It was the perfect place to scope out potential candidates for her school.
At the tournament Moiraine was actually rather disappointed by what she saw in the first few rounds, nothing outstanding at all. That is, until a girl of about seventeen stepped up, she was unlucky, or lucky enough, depending on how you viewed it to be facing a Leigren in her very first round. Moiraine watched this fight with interest as it reminded her very much of herself. The young female mage was a user of nature magic named Morrigan, the Leigren was a fire mage so things did not bode well for Morrigan. The two exchanged a series of furious blows in quick succession, whoever landed the next hit would be the victor and the Leigren was winding up for something big. But Moiraine's eyes were on Morrigan, the look on her face was a mirror image of Moiraine's own when she had realized it was now or never to unleash the Radiant Assault. Morrigan let loose with what was obviously her signature spell, wreaking havoc among the stadium. The fight was over, the Leigren was out. Moiraine nodded to herself in approval, yes, she should do just nicely. Moiraine watched the rest of the tournament without much interest, Morrigan got knocked out in the second round and no one else interested her in the slightest. As the tournament drew to a close Moiraine sought Morrigan out, quickly spotting her speaking with an Arch Recolach. It would seem that she was now a Leigren herself. Once the Arch Recolach departed Moiraine approached Morrigan. "Greetings. Congratulations on your new rank. I'm Moiraine Rahvik by the way, the Chaos Recolach. I must say I was rather impressed with your match against the Leigren, so much so in fact I would like to ask you to become my apprentice in learning Dark Arts. You could very well reach Maggeir with what you learn from me and become an instructor at my new founded school. Well? Does this idea appeal to you?" The girl, Morrigan blinked in surprise, she still hadn't fully gotten over the fact she was a Leigren now and suddenly a Recolach was
asking her to be her personal apprentice?! Morrigan smiled up at Moiraine and nodded vigorously, "Yes ma'am! I would love that very much! Thank you!" Moiraine led her new apprentice towards The Scholomance, as they walked Moiraine inquired if Morrigan had any particular magic she would like to study. Morrigan thought for a brief moment responding that, as a nature mage she hated seeing things die, she wanted to learn a magic that could do the impossible. Reverse death. Moiraine hummed, there had been extensive notes about this in the Tome, it was a thing called Necromancy. Moiraine looked down at Morrigan and patted her head, "That magic is known as Necromancy child, I know some of it and I will impart my knowledge of it to you as I can. For the most part however this must be a magic of your own doing. Do you accept that you may need to do things against your beliefs in order to achieve your goals? Necromancy is a Dark Art and it is the nature of the Dark Arts to go against the natural order of things, the very thing you represent now."  Morrigan began to slow and eventually came to a full stop so Moiraine stopped as well, awaiting a response from the young mage. When it came Morrigan shuddered visibly, "Yes. Yes I will do what it takes to form this magic.. the cure to death is worth any price." Moiraine continued walking along, with an approving nod and they soon reached The Scholomance. Moiraine sent Morrigan off to send notification to the Council that she was going to begin working on Necromancy with the help of Moiraine and they soon began the next phase of her education.

Morrigan studied under Moiraine's tutelage for eight years, working toward the ultimate goal of bringing the dead back to life. During this time The Scholomance grew in prestige, soon students were flocking to it, wanting to be educated in this new art. Morrigan came bursting into Moiraine's office, "I did it!! I've mastered it! I've mastered Necromancy!!" Moiraine looked up from her work, she had been spending a great deal of time copying the Tome of Chaos as she still had one very important thing to do. "Ah, wonderful news Morrigan. You should report to the Council and see if you can get approved as a Maggeir. When you get back you will have a place as the Necromancy instructor, you should also think on what time of magic you wish to create next, the path to Recolach is an arduous one." Morrigan nodded, "Don't worry Moiraine, I already know what I'm going to be working on. Soul Magic, to make true resurrection, wish me luck."  With that Morrigan left to report her success to the Council and Moiraine put down her pen. She had finally finished copying the Tome. Picking up the copy  and donning a huge cloak that completely concealed her features when the hood was up she left the school and made her way to the Chronobary. She soon found Clotep, the Time Recolach, the old man looked up as she approached, noticing the huge tome in her hand. "Ah, so that's it then? That's how you advanced so quickly in your discoveries of Chaos  Magic. I was wondering when you'd come looking to send it back since the day you stood before us. Though I do wonder how it was you first created Chaos Magic and convinced me to allow you to send that information back in the dividing point of these timelines." A slight smile turned the edge of Moiraine's lips, "Perhaps one day a magic will be developed that will allow us to view into every possible time line." She raised the book up slightly, "May I?" Clotep nodded, "Yes, I suppose you can, would be hypocritical of me if I had already obviously
allowed you to do this at least once before then turn you down now. You do remember what happened that day do you not? It won't do to have you creating yet another new timeline if you blunder."  Moiraine nodded, "I remember exactly what happened on that day.. But... I wonder, what would happen if I didn't go back in time to deliver this book?" Moiraine pulled out a pen and opened to the very back of the book and wrote a few quick notes before closing it and placing it inside her cloak. "Alright Clotep, I'm ready." The Time Recolach opened up a portal in time and Moiraine stepped through. She was in dimly lit room a young woman sat at a desk. Moiraine silently walked up to the desk, the woman looked up, startled the the sudden presence. Without speaking a word Moiraine drew the copy of the Tome from her cloak and dropped it with a loud thud and when the young woman glanced down at it Moiraine was pulled back to the future. Back in her own time Moiraine pulled back the cowl of her cloak, nodded her thanks to Clotep and returned to The Scholomance.
